Jason Bittner, CEO of Triple Helix visits Litchfield Intermediate School today to meet with students and introduce them to 3D printing technology. It was part of an ongoing tour of local schools to promote a program developed at Triple Helix called Free Range Kids.

Free Range Kids is an educational movement designed to help teach kids about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The movement emphasizes learning by doing and teaching kids to be thinkers, tinkerers and unafraid of getting their hands a little dirty. The focus on ‘learning by discovery’ encourages kids to take things apart, break things and generally figure out how things work through observation and experimentation. This is essentially the principals that most professional engineers today followed when they were kids.

Commented Melissa Brutting, Science Coordinator at Litchfield Intermediate, “The kids are amazed at what the 3D printer can do! It’s an interesting time these kids are growing up in. They really have some technological opportunities and challenges awaiting them. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge.”
