Triple Helix employees Jason Bittner and Will Bussey met with students from Sunset Ridge Middle School in East Hartford on Tuesday as part of Triple Helix’s Free Range Kids initiative. Presentations were made to groups of boys and girls and included topics such as coding in Scratch and Python, 3D printing and Raspberry Pi. Interactive activities included 3D printing and a robot bug demo to show the kids how sensors work. Each session ended with a discussion of the different engineering options available when pursuing a STEM career.

The visit to Sunset Ridge was part of a tour of local middle schools that Triple Helix is doing to inform kids about the merits of a STEM education and career. Free Range Kids emphasizes learning by doing and encourages kids to be thinkers and tinkerers, where education happens through observation and experimentation.
